Cockatoo Island

Cockatoo Island is situated in the middle of Sydney Harbour. Cockatoo Island was a former imperial prison, industrial school, reformatory and gaol. The island was also one of Australia's biggest shipyards during the twentieth century.
I recently spent a weekend camping on the island, but you can also stay in other various types of accommodation. When you are on the island it feels like you are a million miles away from the fast paced lifestyle of Sydney, but you can still see all of the land marks that make Sydney so great. With views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and all of the left over remnants of time gone by, Cockatoo Island it is a photographers paradise.
